If you’ve known me for any length of time, then you know that Jimi Hendrix is one of my heroes. He’s been an inspiration to me since a friend loaned me ‘Are You Experienced’ on cassette when I was 16 years.
My close friend and fellow musician Sean Donnelly gave me the nickname ‘Jesse Hendrix’ because of my Hendrix fetish and also because of the way I play lead keyboard synth through guitar peddle effects like Wah, Flange, and Distortion on stage. His broad sonic palette has definitely been an inspiration to me.
A few months ago I found this 1969 interview of Jimi Hendrix by Nancy Carter and put it together in a video with some Jimi pictures I had collected. I did this as a creative exercise for myself but after listening to the interview a few months later I realize how much insight this interview offers into the psyche of one of the great artists of the twentieth century.
I hope you find as much inspiration from this interview as I have. Enjoy! Play on Jimi!
