Haiti & The Wars We Should Be Fighting

Imagine a world where we fought the wars we should be fighting. Instead of Iraq and Afghanistan, we fought to preserve life. Haiti gives us just that chance. I asked just this day on Twitter for a list of charities that could most immediately help the people of Haiti.

A people that needed our help many years before the earthquake called the island of Hispanola to our attention.

Haiti has been impoverished and for decades. The recent earthquake has exacerbated those problems. 10’s of thousands of people are dead. Women and children are begging with their silent prayers for us to help them.

It is easier than we may think for us to help them.  It has been reported that EVERY HOPSPITAL in Haiti has been destroyed.  That is why I am recommending above and beyond all the amazing charities that are currently supporting the relief effort in Haiti for you to donate to ‘Doctors Without Borders’.

It is my opinion that Dr.’s w/out borders can do the greatest good in the least available time, because of the destruction of hospitals . To make a donation to Doctors w/out Borders please go to Haitian Earthquake Response.

If you have an idea for Haitian earthquake response I haven’t mentioned please leave a link to the charity of your choice in the comments below.

Please Donate right now!!!!

God Bless You & Keep You Well !!!

I'm so glad you are still thinking about Haiti. I agree that doctors are a major necessity, but it's not the only one.
I just talked today to a priest who arrived from Haiti yesterday and he says that the tents where people "live" are made with bed sheets and thy are not enough protection for the sun. They are desperate for tents or covers like the ones used in trucks to make sturdier shelters. It would be great to make a campaign about it.
  • I wondered if there is a badge that bloggers can display to help efforts?

    Jesse:

It is so easy to donate to the Red Cross by texting "HAITI" to 90999. $10.00 is then added to your mobile phone bill. Simple and easy.
  • Wyclef's organization probably has the best infrastructure AND on-the-ground knowledge to do the most in the immediate ...
